Lord Allen of Abbeydale

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether more civil servants would be needed to administer Clause 22 of the Social Security Bill; and, if so, how many, and at what cost.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Department of Social Security (Lord Skelmersdale)

The latest estimate is that about 100 additional staff at a cost of about £1 million will be required to administer Clause 22 of the Social Security Bill.
