HL Deb 22 June 1989 vol 509 c409WA
Lord Shepherd

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether all radiographic or radiotherapeutic work carried out on behalf of the National Health Service (NHS) (whether in NHS hospital trusts, in the private sector or on NHS premises) will be carried out by properly trained and state registered radiographers.

Lord Henley

Any radiographer working in the NHS (whether employed by NHS hospital trusts or NHS health authorities) will continue to require to be state registered. Existing guidance on appropriate training requirements of staff in the private sector will continue to stand. The Government will keep the working of these requirements under review.
