What are the latest available figures for the costs of: probation orders; community service orders; attendance centres; probation hostels; and after-care hostels.

The latest available figures are for 1986/87. According to these, the estimated cost of an average completed probation order was £1,190. The cost of an average completed community service order was £520. The total expenditure on attendance centres was £1.13m, giving an average annual cost per attendance order of £117. Total expenditure on probation/bail hostels was £13.23m, giving an annual cost per bed space of £7,174. Total Home Office grants towards after-care hostels totalled £5.36m, giving an average annual contribution per bed space of £1,200, but this figure does not include contributions from other sources.
