§ Mr. John MarshallTo ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster what proposals he has for ending the Post Office monopoly.
§ Mr. ForthWe keep the options under review, but we have no present plans to end the monopoly. We have, however, made it clear that the Post Office's letter monopoly is a privilege, not a right, and that in the event of a cessation or serious disruption of the letter service, we would consider suspending it.
