HL Deb 15 June 1989 vol 508 c1634WA
Lord Gallacher

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether there is any liaison between the business service of the Rural Development Commission and the co-operative development division of Food From Britain, particularly on advice and promotional services.

The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Baroness Trumpington)

There is considerable co-operation between Food From Britain and the Rural Development Commission on the development of markets for speciality foods. The two organisations work closely together in the provision of advice on the setting-up of small groups of producers to improve production and marketing techniques for speciality foods; and have also undertaken joint promotional activities. For example they share exhibition space at the International Food Exhibition at Olympia earlier this year and, more recently, at the Chilled Food Fair at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham.
