To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about relations with East Germany.

We would like to develop fuller relations with the German Democratic Republic, but this would depend greatly upon progress in that country's fulfilment of its CSCE commitments, particularly on human rights. We shall continue to encourage such progress.
