HC Deb 06 June 1989 vol 154 c2W
Mr. Livsey

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what is his policy on bringing into operation local airports in(a) Aberystwyth, (b) Anglesey, RAF Valley and (c) RAF Brawdy in order to facilitate quick access to European business centres via Birmingham, Cardiff, Manchester and London.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

Airport facilities serving south-west and north-west Wales already exist at Haverfordwest (Withybush) and Caernarfon. There is also a helicopter facility at Aberporth. A privately owned airstrip will soon be in operation at Welshpool. Proposals to develop these facilities or open further airports would be matters for the civil aviation industry in the first instance.
