HC Deb 28 July 1989 vol 157 cc967-8W
Mr. Steel

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he has responded to the report on the survey of waste disposal in Scotland presented to him by the Association for the Protection of Rural Scotland on 12 July; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Rifkind

The report is being considered by my officials. The Government have consulted extensively on proposals relating to waste disposal, on which we intend to legislate in the near future. The association's earlier response to our consultation paper on the role and functions of waste disposal authorities in Scotland will be taken into account in that context.
