§ Mr. EggarThe Council of Ministers has recently adopted a European Community directive, setting out a framework for health and safety in the workplace, which we supported. This broadly mirrors our own Health and Safety at Work etc. Act. We are continuing discussions on a number of directives dealing with specific areas.
The Government have made it clear that they see no point in the Commission's proposal for a Communitywide social charter.
