HC Deb 28 July 1989 vol 157 c1027W
Mr. Cran

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence how many letters were received from, and sent to, hon. Members by his Department in(a) January and (b) the whole of this Session up to 1 July.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The information is not readily available in the form requested. In January this year the Ministry of Defence received some 357 letters from right hon. and hon. Members, and some 2,223 from the beginning of the Session until 1 July. The number of letters sent to right hon. and hon. Members during these periods will have been higher, but a precise figure could be established only at disproportionate cost.
