Mr. Bermingham

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) if he will list the percentage of male and female prisoners in England and Wales who derived from ethnic minority origin in(a) 1985, (b) 1986, (c) 1987, (d) 1988 and (e) at the latest available date; and if he will make a statement;

(2) what is the total number of female prisoners currently being held under sentence or on remand in a gaol in England and Wales who derive from ethnic minority origin; and if he will make a statement.
