HC Deb 27 July 1989 vol 157 c929W
Mr. Thurnham

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what discussions he has had with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' working party on ways to simplify the process of buying and selling houses; and whether he will introduce legislation based on the working party's recommendations.

Mr. Chope

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors sent copies of the working party's report to my right hon. Friend the Lord Chancellor and my hon. Friend the Minister for Industry and Consumer Affairs.

The Government wish the process of house buying and selling to be as simple and fair as possible and are therefore considering the report's recommendations together with other representations on the subject.
