§ Mr. CopeThe extension of the technical and vocational education initiative (TVEI) was announced in July 1986, setting aside £900 million over a ten-year period. Since 1987, 48 education authorities have already begun to introduce TVEI into their schools and colleges. Another 32 authorities will join this September and by the early 1990s, all schools and colleges will be participating and all pupils aged 14–18 should be influenced by TVEI.
