To ask the Secretary of State for Transport whether he has any proposals for speeding up the implementation of improvements to main trunk roads.

We have set targets for reducing the average time taken to progress a scheme from entering the road programme to opening for traffic by the order of a quarter. In introducing the changes we have taken care to ensure that the rights of interested parties will not be affected.
