To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will issue instructions to all British posts overseas that no questions concerning Mr. Salman Rushdie or "The Satanic Verses" should be put at interviews with those, including priests, applying for visas to visit the United Kingdom; and if he will make a statement.

No. Entry clearance officers must have discretion in establishing the purpose and bona fides of those applying to visit the United Kingdom.
