§ Mr. Douglas HoggHer Majesty's prison Leeds is a local prison. As such its main function is to keep unsentenced prisoners in custody for the courts and to present them for trial or sentence; and to receive sentenced prisoners from the courts, keeping them in custody until they are categorised and allocated to training prisons or until they become due for release.
Six category A prisoners were held in Leeds prison on 30 June this year, and 10 on 30 June 1988.
