§ Mr. KnoxTo ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department when he intends to introduce type approval machinery for technological aids to traffic regulation enforcement.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggType approval requirements already apply in many areas of road traffic law. The White Paper "The Road User and the Law" (Cm. 576), set out proposals to apply such requirements to automatic detection devices to be used in the enforcement of speeding and traffic light offences. Legislation to implement these proposals will be introduced when parliamentary time permits.
