HC Deb 20 July 1989 vol 157 cc303-4W
Mr. Allen

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will seek an explanation from the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board as to why it has not yet responded to correspondence dated June 1988 from the solicitors acting for Mr. James Bloomfield of 45 Cheltenham street, Bosford, Nottingham.

Mr. Hurd

Jointly with my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland I have responsibility for general oversight of the criminal injuries compensation scheme. However, under the terms of the scheme the board is entirely responsible for the handling and determination of individual applications for compensation. I have therefore referred the matter to the board, which has been asked to write to the hon. Member.
