§ Lord Aveburyasked Her Majesty's Government:
Why the Home Office turn off their fax machine when they go home, making it impossible for those who work different hours to use this means of communicating with them, and why they have so far omitted to respond to three letters addressed to Ministers on this subject.
Earl FerrersStanding instructions in. Home Office central London and Croydon offices require facsimile machines to be left permanently in the "open to receive" position outside normal office hours. If the noble Lord has encountered difficulties, I should be glad if he would let me know which facsimile telephone number or numbers he has endeavoured to contact and, if possible, the relevant dates and times.
