§ Mr. Peter WalkerIn 1988, 178 planning inquiries were heard and 67 appeals were allowed following inquiries. Over the years 1983–87 inclusive an annual average of 179 inquiries was heard, and an average of 78 appeals was allowed following inquiries. Information about the numbers of appeals allowed when the relevant local council's planning officer had recommended that the application be allowed is not recorded centrally.
