To ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the percentage contribution from employers to the pension scheme of scientists in medicine employed by the National Health Service over the last five years.

Over the last five years, the contribution from NHS employers to the NHS superannuation scheme for all NHS employees was 7.5 per cent. of superannuable pay up to and including 31 March 1989 and 4 per cent. from 1 April 1989.
