To ask the Secretary of State for Defence if he will make a further statement about the future role of the Gurkhas.

As my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence said in the House on 22 May, it is expected that the future Gurkha force will have roles that lie within the mainstream of the Army's defence commitments.
