§ Mr. HurdI have laid before Parliament copies of the report, which is published today by HMSO as HC458.
This report reflects the continuing contribution which the Animal Procedures Committee is making towards the effective operation of the Animal (Scientific Procedures) Act 1986, the protection of animals used in scientific procedures and the debate over how animal procedures should be regulated.
I welcome the report's conclusion that
this country has an up-to-date and sound legislative framework for regulating and controlling all scientific procedures involving living animalsand I am grateful to the committee for its work.
