§ Mr. RyderOn 15 June the London Food Commission sought a meeting to discuss food irradiation prior to a formal announcement of Government policy on the subject. As this was received only very shortly before the date on which the announcement was due to be made, it was not possible to meet this request. I did, however, arrange for the commission to be sent a copy of the report by officials on the control framework that would be necessary for the introduction of this process.
