§ Mr. MallonTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will amend section 4 of the Building (Prescribed Fees) (Amendment) Regulations (NI.) 1983 to 285W provide that all building works designed to secure the greater health, safety, welfare or convenience of disabled persons, within their own homes, and in public places and buildings, continue to receive exemption from payment of plan fees and inspection fees; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. NeedhamIt is not necessary to amend building regulations to provide exemption from fees for building work carried out to dwellings, or buildings to which the public are admitted, solely for the benefit of disabled people. Regulation 6A of the Building (Prescribed Fees) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1982 (SR 1982 No. 392) already provides that exemption.
