HC Deb 05 July 1989 vol 156 cc205-6W
Mr. Tony Lloyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many visits there have been by the Health and Safety Executive to employment training(a) projects and (b) work placements since its inception in September 1988.

Mr. Nicholls

Health and Safety Executive records do not separately identify inspection to workplaces where employment training participants are present. For the purposes of health and safety legislation, employment training participants have all the same rights and duties as employees.

Mr. Tony Lloyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what steps he is taking to encourage more private employers to provide employment training work placements.

Mr. Nicholls

My Department through its marketing campaigns, and training managers through their local contacts, continue to forge links with employers to make them aware of the advantages of ET and to encourage them to offer training opportunities.
