To ask the Secretary of State for Energy if he will make a statement on the progress made in research into cold fusion at the Atomic Energy Research Establishment at Harwell.

I understand that following a comprehensive programme of experiments at Harwell, the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority has decided to end research into cold fusion as the results have shown no evidence of fusion reactions.
