HC Deb 04 July 1989 vol 156 c139W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security how many people in the Doncaster and Mexborough area of South Yorkshire receive severe disablement allowance; and what are the comparable figures for(a) five years ago and (b) 10 years ago.

Mr. Peter Lloyd

I regret that the information is not available in the precise form requested. Severe disablement allowance was introduced in November 1984 and figures for five and 10 years ago are not held.

The table shows, at the latest date available, the numbers of severe disablement allowance claimants at the Department's local social security offices at Doncaster, East, Doncaster, West and Mexborough which serve the Don Valley constituency, although their boundaries are not conterminous.
