To ask the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will introduce an educational support grant for both primary and secondary school libraries.

Mr. Butcher

My right hon. Friend's proposed education support grant programme for 1990–91 which was announced in May does not include a specific activity related to school libraries. He will, however, consider the inclusion of such an activity in a future programme.
