§ Mr. RedmondTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (1) if he will list by region, the estimated stocks of potatoes for this year's current 109W growing season; what were the comparable figures last year; and what assessment he has made as to whether this year's stock will meet demand;
(2) if he will make a statement as to what reviews and discussions he is having in respect of this year's potato crop in England and Wales due to the lack of rain and a possible consequent potato shortage.
§ Mr. RyderIt is too early to make an assessment of the 1989 potato crop. I have asked the Potato Marketing Board to send information on stocks to the hon. Member.
