HC Deb 31 January 1989 vol 146 c115W
Mr. Canavan

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment how many construction workers are unemployed.

Mr. Lee

Information from the labour force survey indicates that in spring 1987 there were an estimated 107,000 people in Great Britain aged 16 or over who were currently unemployed and whose last employment (within the previous three years) was as a construction worker. An occupational analysis of the Department's monthly claimant unemployment count is not available.
