HL Deb 26 January 1989 vol 503 cc867-8WA
The Lord Brougham and Vaux

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How they propose to carry out the review of tree preservation.

The Minister of State, Department of the Environment (The Earl of Caithness)

We have appointed James Batho, formerly Director of the Eastern Region of the Department of the Environment and the Department of Transport, to carry out this review. He has been asked to review the present policy and legislation on tree preservation and consider whether they remain appropriate in present conditions in both urban and rural areas. We have agreed that this review will also cover the position in Scotland and Wales.
