§ Mr. RidleyI have appointed James Batho, formerly director of the eastern region of my Department and the Department of Transport, to carry out this review. He has been asked to review the present policy and legislation on tree preservation and consider whether they remain appropriate in present conditions in both urban and rural areas. I have agreed with my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Scotland and for Wales that this review will also cover the position in Scotland and Wales.
