To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what is the estimated cost, and the expected completion date, of the building programme to redevelop Leeds prison.

It is expected that work on the redevelopment of Her Majesty's prison Leeds will be completed by 1997. The estimated cost at 1988 price levels is approximately £48 million, including VAT.
