§ Mr. Peter BottomleyContrary to recent erroneous press reports, the A38 Saltash tunnel will be closed from 0001 hours to 12 noon on Sunday 22 January 1989 only, for the first of its planned regular maintenance services. This comprises washing the tunnel walls and lighting, changing lighting tubes and bulbs and minor routine maintenance. We expect to close the tunnel overnight at three-monthly intervals to undertake this regular maintenance.
