HC Deb 16 January 1989 vol 145 c90W
45. Mr. David Evans

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport how many road deaths there were in 1987.

Mr. Peter Bottomley

There were 5,125 people killed in road accidents in Great Britain during 1987. While welcoming the fact that this is a fall of 5 per cent. on the 1986 figures, it still represents too many road deaths during the year.
