To ask the Minister for the Arts whether he plans to increase the funds available for conservation in national museums.

Mr. Luce

In the new three-year allocations announced in November I responded to the priorities indicated in the institutions' own corporate plans and increased their provisions by £13 million in 1991–92 for the important work of conservation, storage, documentation, and building and maintenance.
