HC Deb 16 January 1989 vol 145 cc12-3W
Mr. Cryer

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the ministerial advisers appointed in his Department for each year since 1979, the salary each person received, whether paid directly or to another employer, and the duties undertaken, whether solely in his Department or in conjunction with other Departments; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Peter Walker

Mr. C. J. Butler was a ministerial adviser in the Welsh Office from 1983 to 1985. His salary was paid directly to him and since it was negotiated taking into account his previous income it would not be appropriate to reveal it. He did not work for any other Government Department in the period and his duties were set by my predecessor as Secretary of State for Wales.
