Whether and to what extent they have provided advice or comment to local authorities or the Cardiff Bay Development Corporation concerning the implications of constructing a mini-barrage across the mouth of Cardiff Docks as an alternative to the larger barrage currently being promoted under a Private Bill.
§ Lord TrefgarneThe Cardiff Bay Development Corporation, with our agreement, commissioned an appraisal of the proposal to construct an alternative mini-barrage. The preliminary indications of this appraisal show that the economic benefits resulting from the smaller scheme are very much less than those from the barrage proposed in the parliamentary Bill in terms of private investment attracted and quality of development. A copy of the appraisal will be made available to Parliament in due course.
