HL Deb 16 January 1989 vol 503 c84WA
Lord Graham of Edmonton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

When will justices' clerks become involved in Boards of Visitors' adjudications, and whether they will be present at all such adjudications.

Earl Ferrers

Our intention is that qualified clerks drawn from the Magistrates' Courts' Service should begin to be involved in Boards of Visitors' adjudications from about April 1989. Initially there will be a pilot scheme at a small number of establishments, which can then be expanded. Clerks appointed to assist a Board of Visitors will attend all their adjudications.
