§ Mr. Douglas Hogg[holding answer 19 December 1988]: The available information is as follows. In the last five years (ending 16 December 1988) 58 unidentified bodies were reported within the Metropolitan police district and are still unidentified. In the years 1983–87, 27 unidentified bodies were reported to the General Register Office for Scotland and are still unidentified. In Leicestershire, in about the last four years, three unidentified bodies of newly born infants were reported. Information for other police force areas could be made available only at disproportionate cost.
