§ Mr. RyderThis Department is currently concerned with negotiations on a number of EC directives. In the food law harmonisation area, directives on food labelling, foods for particular nutritional uses, batch marking and official inspection of foodstuffs, on which common positions have been reached in the Council of Ministers,520W are currently before the European Parliament. Proposals for directives on nutrition labelling of food and food irradiation are before the Council.
