To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the purpose of the works now being carried out on the Al Felton bypass Coquet viaduct.

§ Mr. Peter Bottomley
The works are connected with the installation of a new gas main from Morpeth to Alnwick. Statutory undertakers have the right to install apparatus within the highway boundary. The Coquet viaduct offered the only suitable crossing.
