HC Deb 21 February 1989 vol 147 cc610-1W
79. Mr. Tredinnick

To ask the Secretary of State for Health whether he proposes to examine the present grading structure for physicists, biochemists, clinical psycholgists and other scientists; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Freeman

The management side of the scientific and professional staffs council has set up a working party to investigate the scale of reported problems of recruitment and retention of physicists, biochemists, clinical psychologists and other scientists. I understand that the management side has said that if these investigations reveal a problem for NHS management it would wish to consider if an appropriate way of solving it would he by examination of the present grading structure.
