HC Deb 20 February 1989 vol 147 c487W
Mr. Allan Roberts

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will provide estimates of what proportion of sewage pollution experienced by Lytham St. Annes is due to bacterial levels in the river Ribble; and what proportion is due to existing local discharges of sewage.

Mr. Howard

The relative proportions vary, but I understand that the Ribble is usually the larger contributor.
