496WA
§ The Earl of ArranThe Department of Health has not asked National Health Service hospitals to stop using fresh eggs. However, in Executive Letter (88)P/136 issued to health authorities on 29th July 1988, the department asked general managers to ensure that pasteurised egg was substituted for raw egg in all uncooked dishes. The department also said that using raw shell egg as a binder for sandwiches should cease, as should nursing practices involving raw eggs.
