HL Deb 20 February 1989 vol 504 c494WA
The Earl of Lauderdale

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are aware that Miss Lucy Stevens, a wheelchair-bound senior citizen living in a local authority flat in the London Borough of Camden, has been left without hot water since before Christmas and has appealed to the local authority in vain for them to repair the system; and whether they can take any steps to remedy the situation.

The Earl of Caithness

The management and maintenance of local authority dwellings are the responsibility of the local authorities themselves and the Government has no power to intervene. Camden Council say that the first report of problems with the hot water system in Miss Stevens' flat was received on Friday 3rd February. That same day, council workmen called but got no reply.
