To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many new local authority dwellings were completed in Wales in 1988; and if he will give comparable figures for 1974 and 1979.

Provisional returns for 1988 show that 789 local authority dwellings were completed. Comparable figures for 1974 and 1979 are 3,046 and 3,010 dwellings respectively.
