To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what were, for each year since 1978, the total expenses of the Scottish Office.

The table shows the departmental running, costs of the Scottish Office, excluding the Scottish prison service, which are borne on class XVI vote 21 in 1988–89 and comparative outturn since 1983–84.
