Mr. Gordon Brown

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what was the number of notified cases of people infected by(a) salmonella and (b) listeria in each year since 1978.

Laboratory reports of cases of salmonellosis submitted to the public health laboratory service for the years 1978 to 1987 are given in the table. The number of cases for 1988 is not yet available.
